The petite and delicate Ileana D’Cruz is no stranger to south India. With the recently released Barfi, she crosses over to Bollywood. While her girl-next-door image works for her expanding fan base, off screen too, she likes to keep it simple and invests in basic pieces in flattering silhouettes. Here are bits from a fashion conversation I had with the star recently.
STYLE OFF SCREEN
I like clean cut, figure hugging pieces and don’t like overdoing anything. I like to keep it non fussy and simple. My accessories are limited to one — either a watch or a neckpiece or statement earrings. I love black and most of my stuff is black.
BRANDS I LOVE
I’m not very much into brands. For me, it’s the fit and the quality. It could even be something off the streets. But I love Zara, Guess and Michael Korrs.
I have never been the type to follow trends. I keep myself up to date with them but eventually what suits my body type and makes me feel comfortable, because if I’m not, it brings the whole outfit done, no matter how beautiful or expensive it is.
FAVE WARDROBE PIECES
A high waisted pencil skirts as I they are elegant. I am a big shoe person. I have 70 pairs, no as any as you would expect. I do have a band ankle and knee, but I love my high heels.
PREFERRED SHOPPING DESTINATIONS
The USA and Mumbai. I have always found good stuff in these places. I would love to shop in Milan.
Be inspired by someone, but make your own style and be comfortable.
