5 30 pm: Up next was Ankur Modi and Priyanka Modi (am: pm), who have named their label after meridiems.
The designer duo showcased a black and white collection titled Mayan Maze, it was a tribute to the ancient civilization of Mayans. The timeless black and white combo never fails, and it didn’t this time also. On the ramp were flowy silhouettes in silk and organzas. Floor length maxis and palazzos vied for attention and bird prints, even on the collars (which were mostly Mandarin) added an element of quirk. High waist skirts paired with full sleeve shirts gave were the favourites – zero skin show, yet extremely sensuous.
Trend alert: I said this yesterday, and I will say this again. There’s no avoiding the Palazzos in the coming months. Look for one that flatters you, because you don’t want to be left out when everyone’s wearing them. Also, remember a black and white combo will never fail you. The bird print is huge right now, so do imbibe it in your wardrobe. And the high-waist skirt is a good bet for your corporate wardrobe.
6 pm: Kolkata boys Dev r Nil continued to be super adorable with their collection titled Lost & Found. It told the story of a girl who’s lost her love in the maze which was signified brilliantly by honeycomb prints, a staple in this collection. Clean flowy silhouettes with in shades like tangerine, fuchsia, taupe and pale lime made up this highly wearable collection that comprised beautiful jackets for men and women, maxis and dresses, all of which were worn with nude pumps. For men, the duo designed printed bermudas paired with a shirt in the same print and a jacket. That was my favourite look for men in the collection. As for women, a Kedia inspired top in a tangy lemon with a pair of fitted pants, stole my heart. A gorgeous, mature collection.
Trend alert: Nude pumps are the ít’ footwear of the year. If you haven’t got them already, please shop for them right now. Also, longish linen jackets go wonderfully well with fitted dresses, as I noticed in this show.
